View Full Version : I like it and I don't, Publisher 2003
Kati

I am a little bit frustrated with Pub 2003. In the past I used Word for Brochures and Calendar, and I needed a program which is more appropriate.
I have to find out that MS put less knowledge into this program than they could have.
• Not being able to save my calendar format and change just the dates is a monthly aggravation. ( I already posted this problem and I haven’t got the answer yet.)
• I cannot change case with just one button,
• I cannot format bullets,
• Cannot change the default letter type.
• I cannot select more then one picture for inserting into my doc, etc.
If somebody has a solution I would be very happy to hear about it.

I am confused. I just started to read and asks questions on this site. Apparently I am in the wrong because it is not the first time that I got back a so called "answer" which is more like an insult. What am I doing wrong? Am I asking stupid questions? Every questions are stupid to the person who knows the answer.
And Yes, I know it is a site where people kind enough to voluntarily help each other. Voluntarily so if you do not want please do not answer me. It is fine not answering but it is not to being rude.

• Change Case:
I meant: Change Case - Change case. - CHANGE CASE, change case.
• Format Bullets:
I cannot believe how silly I was not being able to find it before. Thanks.
You said: “There are many other Calendar DESIGNED programs that are intended for creating Calendars.” Could you give me the names of those programs.
Thank You

You ungrateful b*tch! You received plenty of replies - David even offered to
assist you via email! This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup, not MS technical
support, learn some patience and read your replies!

Dear CarriedAway, (How appropriate the name is)
this is what you wrote to me:
"You ungrateful b*tch! You received plenty of replies - David even offered to
assist you via email! This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup, not MS technical
support, learn some patience and read your replies!"
Reading the discussions I do not think that David needs your help to defend himself he seems very much able to do it himself. You advised me so I do not want to owe to you, here is my advice: find help for your anger problem and try refren from bad words, you know those that you cennot spell out.
What made you so angry? Here is what I wrote: " Not being able to save my calendar format and change just the dates is a monthly aggravation. ( I already posted this problem and I haven't got the answer yet.)
Yes I havn't got the answer yet. What is so ungrateful about it? this is the fact. I am not blaming anybody. What I implied is that I already posted,-not the first time I am talking about it and that the problem is not an easy one. If you are a person who thinks positive you would not read in that innocent sentence that I am ungrateful and I am accusing the whole peer-to-peer community.

Kati,
There's something about this NG, not sure what it is (my theory is that
more posters need to try some Horse Brew, but I'm a Bored Director of
the Company!), but it seems to accept animosity more than amiability.
There are people (Ed and Mary come to mind) that seem to ignore almost
all rants and answer questions. The best thing to do is wade through the
idiotic and mean spirited replies and find the gem that answers your
question. Thank them and then tell the others to go to hell. :-)

I'm sorry, Michael. but she said "she hadn't had any replies" - blatantly
not true - it's just that she can't be bothered to search for them so, like
the middle school kid she so obviously is, she wants to be told over and
over and over and.... ad nauseam.
Maybe when (sorry, /if/) she makes it to big school, she might learn
something (though I highly doubt it).

It isn't 'fact' - the answers are there you just can't be arsed to read
them.
> Yes I havn't got the answer yet. What is so ungrateful about it?
Because you're saying you've received no answers, which isn't true,
therefore it shows no gratitude or respect to those who helped you.
> this is the fact.
No, it's fiction.
I am not blaming anybody. What I implied is that I

I never said you were 'accusing' anyone - and it isn't an "innocent
sentence" it is a lie.

Maybe it is your name to you but not to me. No you are not CarriedAway anymore your new name is CarryOn.
As you wrote to somebody about me, who was nice enough to answering me and not insulting me.
"I'm sorry, Michael. but she said "she hadn't had any replies" - blatantly
not true - it's just that she can't be bothered to search for them so, like
the middle school kid she so obviously is, she wants to be told over and

If you quote, quote properly please that would make it a quotation: I wrote: I have not have an answer. Not reply. Answer means that I haven't got the solution to my question. I thought it was obvious. Do you still want to carry on?

I'm just a little indignant but not as much as the others, being new and
all. I just figure that getting involved in this thread is like standing in
the middle of a Pamplona road (specifically The Callejn) during the Running
of the Bulls at the San Fermin Festival.

She/he/it is UNBELIEVABLE.
Can you imagine the poor person that may be involved with she/he/it - I am
convinced she/he/it will remain a spinster/bachelor/spinbach.

Hello Kati, I'm new too, in fact this is the first time I've looked for an answer here. Wow, didn't expect such negative stuff, but I love your notes about one little seed of kindness, etc. Let's keep our chins up and we'll be Ok.
I have had to change from a very old publisher to PUB2003 and it's like working with a whole new program. I'm trying to start my Christmas gift calendars early that I make for our kids, so I need the 2005 calendar. Do you have any idea how to do this so that the dates will be in the correct boxes, rather than where the 2004 dates belong?

From the help file of Publisher:
1.. On the File menu, click New.
2.. In the New Publication task pane (task pane: A window within an Office
application that provides commonly used commands. Its location and small
size allow you to use these commands while still working on your files.),
under New from a design, click Publications for Print.
3.. Under Publications for Print, click Calendars.
4.. Under Calendars, click the type of calendar you want to create (Full
Page or Wallet Size).
5.. In the Preview Gallery, click the design you want.
6.. Under Month or year in the task pane, click Change date range to pick
a year between 1900 and 2200 for your calendar.
7.. Use the commands in the Calendar Options task pane to customize your
calendar.

===============================
Under "Calendar Options" in your left pane...look
for a button that says, "Change Date Range".
