The Viewer is designed to let the full application take over the file
extensions. In reality the Viewer is intended for machines without Visio
installed. It defers to Visio when the app is installed.

Visio Viewer 2003 and Visio Professional 2003 don't work together
properly.
If you install visio viewer 2003 and then try to open some .vsd file with
IE
it opens fine, but if you then run Visio Professional you'll see that
windows installer runs. It change IE configuration so it starts to use
"Visio service" to display .vsd (and other associated files) not Visio
Viewer plug-in. This is not right because I don't want to be able to
change
.vsd files with IE, i just want to view them. Also this became a problem
when I need to view .vsd files through Web, cause after I click on link to
my .vsd file and answer in dialog window "Open" nothing happens! It just
show error page.
Question is: is there some way to change IE configuration (may be in
registry) so it starts to use Visio Viewer again?
