Default AddressBook

Please excuse the poor choice of words. I never believed that OL "thought"
anything.

I realize that.

What I should have, perhaps, said was that the configuration for my
version of OL might be that of a client-server relationship, i.e., pointing
elsewhere for its Address Book contents (an Exchange Server which in my case
doesn't exist?). I have created new mail profiles several times with no
success but will try once yet again.

The Address Book service can include any folder in your mail profile that
contains contacts, but it should include, at a minimum, a reference to your
default Contacts folder.

The bigger question is that if I upgrade
to OL 2010, will these parameters carry over. Maybe I should give the demo
OL
2010 a shot to see what happens.

The mail profile is kept in the registry, so uninstalling one version of
Outlook and installing another shouldn't affect it and the new Outlook version
will reference the same data.
