Here's the procedu
Mark the line you want to copy format from (line1.....).
Click the "Format Painter" icon (looks like a paint brush) on the tool line.
Mark teh line you want to copy the format (inclusive of tabs) to (line
3....)

I do not understand you problem.
If you make a text box then set some tabs now type in the box,
if you let the text autoflo at the end of the line the tabs will
appear
in the new line,
If you press enter for a new line the tabs will appear in the new
line.
What else are you doing and what version of Pub are you using?
