Default Office 2007 Pro became "reduced functionality" unexpectedly

Uninstall all versions of Office 2007, together with any activation
assistant, clear temp files, reboot.
Then see this kb http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us
follow the kb and reboot prior to installing paid for version

I had a Trial version of Office 2007 on my home laptop which I purchased
last
year. It prompted me for product key after a few uses. I bought Office
2007
Professional (from the Microsoft company store - I work at Microsoft). I
typed in the product key from the CD and activated, and everything worked
fine for a few months.

About 2 weeks ago, Office apps stopped being fully functional on my
laptop.
Instead it shows "reduced functionality" - i.e., I can view a word
document
but none of the editing functionality works. Now from the Word options
dialog
it appears like the software is not activated. However, clicking
"Activate"
from the dialog does not start activation wizard.

I uninstalled the product, and reinstalled from the CD. No difference
whatsoever. The product still has reduced functionality. So now I'm stuck
with a retail product that I cannot use. Some searching on the internet
reveals that the Trial version of Office seems to be a nasty bit of work -
there are numerous posts referencing the inability to use a retail version
once you install a trial version.

Is there any user, Office dev team member or MVP that knows the correct
way
to resolve this problem?

thanks
Thomas Alex
