Default Microsoft Office Document Scanning stopped working

There is no option in Office Document Scanning to set hardware options
related to the scanner. If the scanner has a sheet feeder, it is detected and
you can choose to use it or not. This scanner never had a sheet feeder and
the option is not available to be checked.

I have a Microtek ScanMaker 6800 that used to work properly with Microsoft
Document scanning. I had to do a system restore and now everytime I go to use
the software, I get an error dialog that says:

The scan failed because of a scanner hardware error. Feeder may be jammed.
Please correct the error and scan again.

I don't have a sheet feeder so the error is incorrect. I get the same result

Is there a scanner setup toolkit installed in Windows? It may have
options for manually setting optional hardware accessories. If the sheet
feeder is marked as "installed", the scanner driver will probably probe
that, and give an error when it gets no response.

If the accessory list is not maintained within Windows, the list must be
transferred from the scanner. Either the feeder is automatically sensed
by the scanner or feeder presence is selected by a front panel function.
Search for reset options on the scanner.
