Default Word2007 bug: won't place picture correctly

I also typeset books for publishing. When I send documents to printers, they
request PDFs with one page per sheet because they will be performing the
imposition in-house.

Jay has confirmed the bug (something I cannot do since I don't have Word
2007 installed); as I said, it has been reported previously. FWIW, if

you're
preparing a *booklet," see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...etPrinting.htm. The technique

for
Word 97 will, I suspect still work in Word 2007 (albeit admittedly more
work).

If you're preparing a *book* (for self-publishing), then the printer will
almost certainly want each page on a separate sheet (even if they're
half-sheet sized). If you're preparing a *manuscript* (to be sent to a
publisher), then layout is not your responsibility.

I hate following up such a non-constructive conversation, but I am
a publisher. I send a finished manuscript to the printer. Nowadays
it will be in Postscript or Acrobat (remarkable how Postscript still
lives). Word is sometimes accepted, reluctantly and from the Mac.
I publish books, not booklets. No printer I've contacted recently will
accept "separate sheets." Camera-ready is dead, or should be -- how
well I remember it !

In my house, layout is definitely my responsibility -- and part of
my glory :-) ( but not on Word2007 )
