Default Area Code Format in Contacts (Outlook 2003)

Thanks, Russ. Are you referring to a setting in Outlook? The area code is
set properly in control panel/phone and modem (WinXP).

This worked on my desktop computer in Outlook 2002, but stopped working when
I upgraded to 2003. I have about 10 computers running 2002 (all work
normally), and 4 running 2003 (1 works, 3 don't). I can't figure out any
setting that could allow this to work on the one computer or not on the
other three.

When entering a 7-digit phone number in an Outlook 2002 Contact, the

default
area code and phone number formatting are added as soon as I tab to the

next
field. In other words, entering 5551234 resolves to (585) 555-1234.

In Outlook 2003, whatever I type in the phone number field is entered
unchanged - if I type in 5551234, that's what I end up with. No area
code
or formatting are added.

Having searched TechNet and the Office web site unsuccessfully, how do I

get
Outlook 2003 to format phone numbers as the prior versions did?

TIA.
