Default Saving the Autorecovery file is postponed for normal

If mention of the vba editor lost you (and that was only mentioned as an
example) then the potential fixes are going to worry you also, however.....

See http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...artingWord.htm or
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541 with particular attention to the
normal template.

Thanks for that Graham, but unfortunately you lost me at the mention of
editors - I don't know anything about this. Any other suggestions
please, as I don't want to turn off Autorecovery?

The message will occur when you have the option set to save autorecovery
information and for whatever reason it cannot save the recovery file at
the time interval requested. You can turn off the saving of autorecovery
information, but it would be better to investigate why it cannot save.
I find that this sometimes occurs when programming in the vba editor.
