Default is there a way to print a check register book?

Really? We just set my daughter up with a teen-checking account and debit
card...piece o'cake.

yeah, you were probably established with a bank account in the area, or
she was in some way.

With my daughter, she moved from FL and the bank she had (BOA) isn't in
VT. Maybe there's something about it the VT banks don't trust (LOL)

My other daughter moved from FL a year later and couldn't get a checking
account at a bank, either, but by then they knew about the credit union and
she went there and openned one with no problem.

Maybe it's something to do with FL like they think illegal aliens or
terrorists might be coming from there? VT is on the Canadian border which
probably doesn't help. Like terrorists or someone planning to do harm is
going to come right in over the border and stopping all cars and trucks and
searching them and checking on the occupants is going to catch them (they
might have a bomb in their trunk?)

I think they may require passports for coming in from Canada now, too.

Like someone smart enough to plan any kind of terrorism (like 9-11 for
example) is gonna be dumb enough to drive across a border with proof of what
they plan to do in their car or truck.

Which sure gets off the subject of printing check register books

| I write maybe half of what you do, if that. I do everything online
except
| for depositing the occasional check I receive.
|
| It's really hard to get a checking account now. Because of Homeland
| Security (for one thing) or maybe it's the Patriot Act. You have to be
there
| in person to get an account (you know, terrorists might open a bank
| account ) and then you need some high credit score. When we moved back
to
VT
| in 1997 I called a bank, they sent me forms I sent them back with a
deposit
| and it was waiting when we got here. Three years ago, my daughter moved
here
| from FL (she had a Bank of America account there but they don't have
them
in
| VT, nearest one is 80 miles away) she couldn't get a checking account.
She
| was buying money orders to send to her BOA online account, or putting
money
| in my acct and I'd give her checks. They kept putting her off. Said if
she
| openned a savings account and used it for a few months. She did. They
kept
| putting her off... About a year later she went to a credit union and
they
| gave her one, no problem. She has checks, debit card, etc. She closed
her
| savings account at the bank and put it in the credit union. Wasn't just
one
| bank but all she tried here. Banks are under different guidelines
| (goverenment) or something.
|
| I wonder if the REAL terrorists are laughing at us? (I was reading
on
| another group that proms in some places are using metal detectors and
| breathilizers now).

| absolutely. i think we only physically write out 10 checks a year
now!
| it's great at tax time too. however, my bank only makes available the
| last
| 90 days of history, so i have to remember to download my register
| quarterly.
|
| not t mention the money saved on stamps.

| | My banking is online, I sort of keep track with Money 97. The bank
| printouts are
| | great, the cancelled checks are always there, ready to print. I'd
| recommend
| | online banking to anyone.

| | | A template or something?
| | |
| | | I have Publisher 2000 (also Word 2000)
| | |
| | | I found in a search (online) a page with tutorials about
money
| management
| | | that offered a printable check register but it turned out to
be
a
| | full-size
| | | page (also a pdf version). I've tried to set the pages
smaller,
| thinking
| | if
| | | I printed 4-6 smaller versions of it one page I could cut them
| apart
| and
| | put
| | | them together, but they only print one (small) to a page.
| | |
| | | This might not seem like a big deal, but I don't have a car
and
| getting
| | | something like this from my bank is a major project (I ask
people
| and
| they
| | | forget. I could probably call the bank and ask them to mail me
| one)
| One
| | | comes with a box of checks when I order them but at some point
is
| filled
| | up.
| | | I got the idea of printing it myself. Like several pages, with
| checkbook
| | | size "pages" printed several times on it- that could be cut
apart
| and
| | folder
| | | (maybe with a staple) to form a check register book.
| | |
| | | If I had a blank page from one, I could scan it, and
possibly
| figure out
| | | how to set it up on a page (my printer has two sided duplex
| printing)
| so
| | | each page could be cut and folded to make several pages of the
| register
| | | book.
| | |
| | | I know, I can cut plain paper to size and fold it to make
one,
| but I
| | enjoy
| | | a challenge- learning experience, and thought if I could find
a
| set
| up for
| | | this (with the lines, squares, spaces for check number,
amounts,
| etc)
| I'd
| | | like to know.
| | |
| | | Thanks,
| | | Carrie
