Printing large images using Visio
I have a multilayered image (document) I would like to print. The drawing
page size is 149" x 154" and the print zoom is set to "fit to exactly 1 sheet" so my image is large and complex. Is there any way I can convert the Visio document as a jpg (or something similar)? If I could convert the image (jpg) to at least a 48" x 48" image with at least a 300 dpi, I would be happy, prefer larger but this will do for now. When I try saving the drawing (converting) as a jpg I get an 920 error that says "an error (920) occurred during the action Save As. An error occurred. Visio is unable to complete exporting." Why does this happen? Can anyone help? FYI - I have another post under "visio 920 error" but thought I would cross post with a little more specificity of my problem. Thanks! |

I think the problem is the reslting image size, 48"x48" at 300dpi = 14400x14400 pixels x 16bit colourspace (good enough for this example) = 414MB (at a quick reckoning) -- Regards, Paul Herber, Sandrila Ltd. Electronics for Visio http://www.electronics.sandrila.co.uk/ Yes the file is large since I mentioned it in my thread. I am trying to find a way to convert the visio drawing to an image to be able to print on a plotter that is 48" x 48". I know it can be done but I am not sure how. A graduate student a couple of years ago, (he's graduated and moved on) was able to send an image to a print company who printed out an 8' x 8' image of the drawing on cloth. Yes, that's right 8 foot x 8 foot, so I know it can be done, I just don't know how he did it. If anyone has insight, please share. Thanks! |

The physical size of the image (8'x8' in this case) is not really connected to the size of the image in pixels. The printing company can scale up as required. Try saving in WMF format and use lower resolution, 300dpi over 48" is completely OTT. -- Regards, Paul Herber, Sandrila Ltd. DFD/SSADM for Visio http://www.visio-dfd.sandrila.co.uk/ |
