The Tasks "To-Do List" shows "Cannot display the folder"
Diane,
This indeed worked. I made a new profile, and the To-Do box appeared. I was able to copy over my old pst file and everything still worked. I just have an odd new mail profile called "New Outlook" that I can't seem to rename even though I deleted the old "Outlook" profile. But I never see this name anyway. I'm not sure what got corrupted, or how it was fixed when the reinstall and program checks did nothing. But it works now. Thanks, -Larry "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: Go to control panel, mail and make a new profile - use your real mail account info and set outlook to leave mail on the server. If you have more than 1 acct, you only need to add one to the profile right now, since you are only testing it to see if its outlook or a corrupt profile. if it works, close outlook and go back to control panel, mail and add the old pst to the profile, setting it as the default. Restart outlook. Does it still work? If not, something in the pst is bad. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com. The Tasks "To-Do List" shows "Cannot display the folder"
I have been trying to solve this problem for several months with no success.
I have tried what you suggested here, but haven't had any luck. I'm looking for more specific instructions on how to do what you've suggested i.e. "creating a new profile and adding the old pst to the profile". Can you point me in the right direction? -- Tx .... The Tasks "To-Do List" shows "Cannot display the folder"
I have seen this before.
have alook at the data files that outlook is using. (tools, options, mail setup, data files). you may have an invalid data file present or you may have on of the data files listed twice. the error is because outlook is trying to get the to do list etc from the invalid data file "LarryQW" wrote: Thanks. I just checked my history and I indeed typed "outlook.exe /cleanviews". I did the right command but made a mistake in my posting. Oops. "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "LarryQW" wrote in message ... Didn't work using the "run outlook.exe /clean" command. There is no such command, of course, so it's not surprising trying to use it didn't work. The correct command to try is outlook.exe /cleanviews -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

the directions about the .pst file, after same exasperating process as Larry--voila--my to do list!! Thanks!
