Default Sound files no longer play

PP 2000, Windows 2000

Three weeks ago sound files inserted into my PowerPoint presentations
stopped playing on this computer. (I have made no hardware changes). They
still work on other computers.

I've gone through the Austin/Coleman multimedia tutorial. No luck. Any
suggestions?
Carl

Have you moved them or renamed the folder they're in? See the following and
then delete and reinsert them:

Sounds/Movies don't play or links break when I move or email a presentation

I did not change any folders. The first thing I tried was to reinsert the
mp3's. I tried again now, placing them in the same folder... no change. I
get no error message either... they just don't play.

Have you made software changes, like installing something like Real Media stuff
which really mucks up your sound stuff.

Thanks. I'll check this. I don't recall installing any software, but it may
have done some kind of auto update that fouled things up.
