Setup of Office 2003 - Error 1911
Office 2003 is not being very nice to me. When I first installed it, I kepted
getting an error 25090. I followed the instructions on the website to fix it, but that did not help at all. So I took the plunged and formated my computer again ( just did it two days ago, so not much loss). I decieded to install all other programs first, THEN office. This time, mid way through instalation, I get: ERROR 1911. Setup cannot register type library for file c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web components\11\DFUICOM.exe. Contact microsoft product support services (pss) for assistance. (great, their product doesnt work and they want me to spend 35.00 for assistance for their product?)... Anyone have any problems like this? ALso now, my computer wants to DEBUG now after that I installed Office. Whats up with that? Any assistance would be very greatfull. This is also Office 2003 Professional edition. I am running a Dell Inspiron 5100 Laptop. XP Professional Edition that I just loaded on. I am the only user on this computer (that I knowenly set up). Thank you, Delaney |

Hi, webdelaney,
My understanding is that setup problems are handled at no charge by Product Support. That said, did you see this article? "Error 1911. Could not register type library for" error message when you run the Office 2000 Setup program: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;299608 It could be that your CD / DVD drive is too fast, and there's a resolution you can try. -- Susan Ramlet MVP - Office Please reply to the newsgroups where others may benefit. Thank you, Delaney I have a similar problem and have been fumbling around on the MS site to no avail. I decided to let the expert help me. The first thing that they wanted to know was the number to be found in the "about" section of the "Help" drop down. How to get it? START the program! BUT I CAN'T INSTAL IT, THICKHEADS. What a useless organisation. I'll stop before I have apoplexy or something. Anyone have the knowledge - Please help. Hi Clapham,
Your problem may not be identical to this user's problem. You need to first explain your problem in detail with any exact error messages you see. You also need to clarify the writing on your CD, this will avoid needing the "about" box to work. ClaphamJunction wrote: "webdelaney" wrote: Office 2003 is not being very nice to me. Hi,
I don't see this error documented anywhere on Microsoft. It seems it does not want to register the web components, but this doesn't make much sense to me on a new formatted computer, although it would have been MUCH more sensible to install Office 2003 FIRST, instead of your other dodgy programs (who knows what they may have done?). Are you installing from a genuine Office 2003 CD? What does the writing on the CD say? Is your XP a genuine retail version, or the Dell restore CD? webdelaney wrote: Office 2003 is not being very nice to me. When I first installed it, I kepted getting an error 25090.
