Major 07 rant - top fold template appears on screen as side-fold
This is REALLY beginning to do my nut in because it makes placement of
objects (and visualisation of the finished project when printed) nigh on impossible. I thought Publisher was supposed to be WYSIWYG, but I have spent THREE DAYS (not to mention a lot of wasted paper and ink) trying to get a single-fold, top-fold card to print correctly but, because it appears on screen as side fold (and, yes, it did cross my mind to try a bit of 'reverse psychology' but side-fold cards do, correctly, appear as side-fold). I am currently using a trial version, which expires the first week of next month and, whilst there are some new features which I rather like (the colour picker and the new Pantone tool to name but 2) this is a deal breaker for me. I've been using Publisher since practically the day dot, but I shan't be converting the trial, I'll go back to using '03. I have installed the '07 SP1, but it's not fixed this issue. I've always used Publisher because I found it very easy to use but I think I'll go back to using PagePlus if this cannot be rectified. I'm running it under XP Home SP2, if that makes any difference. Cheers for any helpful suggestions (and if anyone says 'rotate your monitor' I'll clobber 'em! ;o) evil grin) P.T. |

It's a display bug. In addition, pages 1 and 2 will be on the same printed page, and pages 3 and 4 will be on the same printed page. They will be one-above-the-other. The upper pages will be flipped, most of the time. Sometimes not. I've opened up a bug at https://connect.microsoft.com/feedba...587&SiteID=227, which you can vote on and validate. -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher http://ed.mvps.org |

Cheers, Ed, but this rather begs the question "how in Hades was this allowed to go into production?" Did *NOBODY* spot this at the testing stage?! This is a bug that shouldn't have slipped past Alpha - nevermind Beta - testing! Miss P.T. |

This is a bug that shouldn't have slipped past Alpha - nevermind Beta - testing! That's not the last of the really irritating and retrospectively obvious bugs. There were very few beta testers concentrating on Publisher; those that were were (for some reason) focusing on web features. I really wish now I'd been able to test more, but my degree has to come first, sadly. Been a long time since I've seen you round these parts - how are things? -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher http://ed.mvps.org |
