Try again. Explorer crashed before I could enter and text the first time!

I have purchased a new PC with MS Office home and Student installed with a
trial licence.

I am planning on purchasing the Standard Edition.

Do I need to deinstall the Home and Student edition before installing the
standard Edition or will the install script work it out for me?

You have to uninstall any Trial together with Activation Assistant via
Add/Remove, then reboot prior to installing any paid for version
PS If explorer crashed on your new PC, then all is not well with your new
PC, and you need to rectify this before installing anything
