Page numbering
Is this possible? Example, on a 3 page contract where the first sheet is the
cover sheet and the 2nd and 3rd sheets are the contract, the footer will be blank on the cover sheet but will show page 1 of 3 on the first page of the contract even though the contract itself is only 2 pages total. How can the contract show 1 of 2 (not to include the cover sheet?) |

Page numbering
Yes, you can do this. At the end of your cover sheet page, insert a section
break (I would use the Next Page option, but continuous will work, too. This can be found in the Page Layout tab on the ribbon). Then, open the header/footer while on page 2, and select the page number. In the ribbon on the header/footer design tab, in the first section (labeled Header & Footer) click on the page number icon down arrow, and select "format page numbers" from the drop-down list. You will get a pop-up window, and there you can select "Start at: 1". I could not make it work using the number format "x of y", but with single page numbers it worked. (You may also have to open the header on the cover page and check different first page.) -- Carrot Top "cwoods" wrote: Is this possible? 1. Between the first and second pages, insert a next page section break
(Insert | Break | Section Break | Next Page). 2. View | Header and Footer. This will open the header pane for editing. 3. Click on the "Switch Between Header and Footer" button on the Header and Footer toolbar to access the footer. 4. If the footer shows Section 1, use the "Show Next" button to get to Section 2. 5. Click on the "Link to Previous" button to unlink Section 2 from Section 1. 6. Click on "Format Page Number" and choose Start at 1. 7. On the Insert AutoText menu, choose "Page X of Y." Position this where you want it using paragraph alignment or the built-in tab stops. 8. Press Alt+F9 to display field codes. The Y field will be represented by NUMPAGES. Edit this (by typing directly in the field) to read SECTIONPAGES. 9. Alt+F9 to toggle back and F9 to update the field. -- Suzanne S.
