Outlook contact list
I cannot see how to enable a type-ahead feature when addressing an email. When starting to type a name in the 'To' line, I want the address line to fill in with the closest name from the address book. For instance, when typing the letters 'joh', I want the appropriate name from the address book (ie. 'John Doe') to be offered as the addressee.
Background: I imported an address book from Outlook Express to Outlook, and the address book landed in the contact list. The contact list is set as the default in the Address Book. Do I need to import the Contact List into the Address Book? |

Outlook contact list
Post your Outlook version.
Autocomplete only exists in Outlook 2002 and higher and does not use your Contact information. It uses a cache of names that will be populated as you send messages. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Kelly Conrad" wrote in message ... Outlook contact list
Thanks Russ, I am using Outlook 2003.
Is the cache of names visible in the software? Can it be loaded by importing the contact list contents? |

Outlook contact list
It exists in an *.NK2 file which you cannot access or edit. You can only
populate it by sending messages. You can remove entries using your delete key when they appear in the suggested names list. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Kelly Conrad" wrote in message ...
