Default "mail to" button grayed out

Windows XP, Office 2002 SP3.

I have been using the fax console for about a year now.

From time to time the "mail to" button becomes grayed out
and I am unable to email the faxes to my outlook.

Shutting down all programs and rebooting the computer
solves the problem but takes time.

Any thoughts as to why the button becomes grayed out and
how it can be made available without rebooting would be
appreciated.

You're the first to report it. I can't reproduce it.
List the steps to repro more accurately or we can't do a thing. Am I to
assume you are trying to forward a received Fax as an email? If so, from
what folder?

Can you give us what are all the email clients do you have and what is the
default email handler (you can check this in Internet options| Programs).

Also when the issue occurs, does double clicking on any saved email opens
properly in the email application

I am trying to forward a received Fax as an email from
the fax console inbox. I can't reproduce it either. It
just happens from time to time.

email client = outlook
default email handler = outlook

When this happens all outlook email functions work as
expected.

Well that does make it tough to track down.
Next time it happens see if the TIF file might be corrupted.

I don't think so, if I reboot the computer, everything
works as expected!
