Default I hate the ribbon -- bring the menus back!

Hi TrueBrit,

Our company has created a product that brings back the familiar Office
2003 interface into Office 2007 so people could still transition to
Office 2007 which is a great product.

ToolbarToggle is a utility for Microsoft Office 2007: Choose the old
toolbars or the new Ribbon because ToolbarToggle is an exact replica
of the toolbar and menu system of Office 2003 that:

- Can float or dock anywhere;
- Has full drag-and-drop customization
- Use drag-and-drop to modify existing or create new toolbars /
menus;
- Add macros and AutoText as menu items or toolbar buttons;

ToolbarToggle is 100% compatible with Office 2007 and comes with a
free bonus feature called ToolbarToggle Lite which is a simpler
version that lets users have the option of placing the toolbar menu
system as a tab on the Ribbon itself.

Try a free ten day trial at http://www.toolbartoggle.com.

Please let us know what you think...

That sounds great. I hated the GUI for Office 2007 beta. I don't really
have to have Office though. Word I do consider essential so someone should
make this toolbar toggle for Word 2007 also for those who just have Word or
Works Suite. I could not get used to Word 2007. It was horrible. So, I went
back to Works Suite 2006 which has Word 2002 and I won't be upgrading as
long as that awful GUI is there and as long as I cannot use the font of my
choice.

And how are we supposed to try this if we don't have Flash Player? I don't
allow that garbage on any of my computers. You should have html content on
your web page for those of us who are security and privacy minded and don't
use Flash Player.

Interestingly, I hated it too at first but now when I look at the previous
versions the UI looks odd and out-dated to me. I suspect what it comes down
to is it's all about what you get used to. :-)

I am curious about that comment you made on changing the font - would you
mind expanding on this? Which font were you unable to change?

Please post this to the programmer who made the ribbon undo thingie - it is not Microsoft Office related and I doubt that they will take your request seriously if not sent to them directly.

The UI font Segoe UI. There is another recent thread in this group where
the OP posted about it.

You can expect future Office versions to use the Ribbon as well. I'd
even venture to guess that Office will never have menus & toolbars
again.

That's exactly why I've been using it at home. The best time to get used to
it is *now*. One day I will need those skills on the job and no one wants a
trainee when they can hire someone who can hit the ground running.

My thoughts exactly!

Those who are turning to a menu bar/toolbar add-in or opting to not upgrade
because of the UI may find themselves left behind in the future. Now is the
time to make the transition and start getting up to speed. I know I
considered forgoing Office 2007 because I didn't like the new UI way back
when but it didn't take long to adapt and now I'm thankful I took the
plunge. :-)
