Worse software of 2006
Microsoft has blundered big time. I think that the company will suffer
greatly with this new product line. Bad concepts and design of these programs will plague them for years. The ultimate winner: Windows Vista. And you think nothing could be worse than windows ME! Reason: Every aspect of this OS is horrible. From its looks, to all the changes they made,to the things they should have done but didn't, they took XP and twisted it into a monstrosity. Worse browser: IE7 wins this title hands down. Its non customizable interface with bad design, its poorly implemented tabs, and the multitude of bugs makes this software of beta quality and never should have been released. Worse Office suite: Office 2007 because of its huge bloat, and the ribbon (the new toolbar), which will go down in history as the stupidest interface ever implemented in an office program. Worse Media player: WMP11. Because it is damn ugly and failed to add the things people really needed. Worse email client: Windows live mail desktop, because the design follows the same concepts of vista, again they took outlook express... and made a monster out of it. Having said all that, I have to say that there is one stand alone MS product that is good, IF you tweak it and customize it. Live messenger 8 The bright side to all this, is that the failures of the above software will open up the doors to new developers, to make new innovative applications that will provide service and joy to humanity in 2007. |

I have to offer replacements for the programs I posted as worse
OS Windows XP is the best OS Microsoft has ever made, and contrary to some wrong posts, this will still be available even after vista hits the stores. Browser AvantBrowser (www.avantbrowser.com) and firefox 2 . Note avantbrowser uses whatever IE rendering engine you have, it falls into the category of a "shell" however the interface is light-years ahead of IE7. Office suite. Openoffice (free and opensource) www.openoffice.org or MS office2003 Email client you can use outlook express 6 that is clean and simple, outlook2003, or thunderbird that can handle rss and newsgroups too. Media Player GomPlayer www.gomplayer.com (this is the best video player ever!) and for audio winamp Dont eat whatever they want to give you. Experiment, learn, and find the applications that you think are best. You are free to choose. "Red nosed reindeer" - wrote in message ... Microsoft has blundered big time. Things I could do easily in Office 97 - like position text boxes side by side for two illustrations - simply don't work in office2003. I have passed our IT people a list of some 30 odd bugs in Office 2003 but they work on the "no-one ever got sacked for buying microsoft" principle, and thier fix, for example fo not being able to number captions to match chapters is to not number captions at all! OpenOffice is very good, as far as it goes, but until they fix the chart module and some of the more esoteric dual-monitor problems it still lags behind office97 in user take-up. My own preferred windows wp was wordperfect, but that has rather languished for a while! |

Well as you can see I am not a microsoft basher.... whatever works should
remain. Whatever new things come out that are better should replace the old. I had to include an MS office application, because it has things people need and use. Open office is great for most uses... its simple and clean.... and free! You can find a portable version here www.portableapps.com that can run also from a hard disk with no installation.. you just run it from a folder.... Check out the other oapplications there too. Portable does not mean you have to use them on a USB drive.. they can work from the hard disk.. and the good thing is that they dont need installation.. they run from a folder and are self contained.. no registry or temp files and trash left around. wrote in message oups.com... Why do you keep posting? People aren't gonna listen to you. Anyone who wants
Vista (like me) isn't going to change their mind just because you think it's crap. I've got the money ready, as soon as Jan 30th hits I'll be in the shop buying it. Anything you post here won't make the slightest difference. Everyone can have an opinion, but you seem obsessed with hating Vista and MS in gerneral. "Red nosed reindeer" - wrote in message ... Great Scott!... how can I be hating MS while at the same time I am saying XP
is superb? Did you even read my other post? I am not an MS basher... I just dont like bad software. You can close your ears and go ahead and buy your vista. By all means.. camp out of the store a week earlier to get vista first.. what do I care. I cannot argue with someone who is inflexible and does not want to learn. "Brian W" wrote in message ... Horrible programm - immediately ater I've downloaded it my previosuly stable latop -2 years old Dell ispiron 600 m,running Windos XP started to crash every 5 minutes , after I had to perform system restore it wied out most of my previously instlled programms and left me with hardly working IE6.0! I do strongly advise everyone considering to download it not to do so! Regards Vlad Maksoutov Australia "Red nosed reindeer" wrote: Microsoft has blundered big time. Worse software of 2006
I'm new to this newsgruop so forgive me for responding to this troll.
But I've recently installed Vista (Ultimate) on my desktop PC - and it's fantastic. I'm really impressed with its look and compatibility with old (XP) programs. It also runs faster than XP and has lots of nice touches. Superb OS Microsoft! Bobby "Red nosed reindeer" - wrote in message ... Microsoft has blundered big time.
