Default Management of Contacts in Outlook

Hi,

I'd like to have Outlook set up so that if a contact is a
member of more than one group and a contact's information
is changed it will be replicated to all groups the
contact is a member of. So if we have a contact who's a
member of the Sales, Admin and Marketing group and a
change is made to the contact's email, whenever we send
an email to the Admin group or the Marketing group the
new email address will be used without having to manually
update it. Is this a possibility with Outlook (is it
versatile enough, hopefully?)? And if not is there any
software or add-ons to Outlook that provide this
feature? Thanks so much for any responses.

What do you mean by groups?
Outlook does not use groups.

I apologize. I guess I meant to say "Distribution List"
since it seems that's the equivalent of groups in Outlook
(more or less). Is there a way to automatically keep all
contact information up to date? Thanks...

In theory, yes. If you change the underlying Contact Record from which the
address in the DL was derived, the Update Now button in the DL should
propagate the changes. Unfortunately, it seems not to work reliably. --

If a contact is a member of more than one distribution
list will any changes be propogated to ALL lists by
clicking "Update Now" from one of the distribution
lists? Or do you have to do this for each list
individually?

Also, what do you mean when you say it's not reliable?
Does it not always note changes made to contact
information? Or does it note the changes but not save
them after you choose the option to Save and Close? In
other words, is there a way to see if any changes to
contact information have been made when updating? Thanks
again for your help!

You have to do it for each DL.
By unreliable I mean that there are more users who report it does not work
than there are who do.

Are there any third party programs that compensate for
this inefficieny of Outlook? Any add-ons that specialize
in management of contacts? Thanks again for all your
help!

I'm sure there are, but I haven't had time to dabble in third party
software. This is a good place to look:
