Track Changes - Word 2002 - Different Color for Delete
We have some large Word documents that require changes
with Track Changes turned on. With these documents it is impractical to use Print Layout to edit (very slow). In Normal view, new text and deleted text appears exactly the same. This is very confusing. Is there some way to make deleted text look different (different color or font or strikethrough, say)? Thanks! |

Are you not seeing strikethrough for deleted text? Am I the *only* person in
the world who had that formatting in Word 2002? -- Suzanne S. How is it this is only a problem in normal view, but not print layout?
They changed the interface for Track Changes in Word 2002. You can still adjust the options, but through VBA, not the menus. Quoting MVP Greg Maxey: _______ You will have to run a macro. The following provides a means of controlling most of the options. Here it is set up to show the margin marks only.: Sub TrackChanges() With Application.Options .RevisedLinesMark = wdRevisedLinesMarkOutsideBorder .RevisedLinesColor = wdAuto ' .DeletedTextMark = wdDeletedTextMarkStrikeThrough ' .DeletedTextColor = wdRed ' .DeletedTextMark = wdDeletedTextMarkHidden ' .InsertedTextMark = wdInsertedTextMarkItalic ' .InsertedTextColor = wdBlue ' .InsertedTextMark = wdInsertedTextMarkColorOnly ' .InsertedTextColor = wdAuto ' .RevisedPropertiesMark = wdRevisedPropertiesMarkColorOnly ' .RevisedPropertiesColor = wdAuto ' .RevisedPropertiesMark = wdRevisedPropertiesMarkColorOnly ' .RevisedPropertiesColor = wdViolet End With End Sub Remove the ' next to lines you want to activate. Put a ' next to the lines you want to deactivate. You can change color choices as well. You only need to run the macro once. _________ See also, if necessary: What do I do with macros sent to me by other newsgroup readers to help me out? I don't know how to install them and put them to use http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/CreateAMacro.htm DM "Bill" wrote: We have some large Word documents that require changes with Track Changes turned on. Because Print Layout view uses balloons; Normal doesn't.
