Is it corrupt Outlook profile?
Remote user uses Windows 2000 pro/Office XP at home. Uses Windows XP/Office
2003 when in the office. Over the weekend, the user brought current Windows 2000 pro, and Office XP with all windows security updates and Office XP updates (including sp3). Both versions of Outlook connect to an exchange 5.5 server. Both computers are members of the domain. Today, when he went to use Outlook 2003 the profile had changed. Previously set colors in organize were gone. The default signature was not included on e-mails, although the options settings indicated a signature was still selected. New e-mails open using text format, even though the profile is set to use Word 2003 as the mail editor. Read / Delivery receipts were not being returned to the user, even though the profile is set to request them. Could this be caused by different versions of outlook connection to an exchange 5.5 server? Could the install of Office XP sp3 at home, some how adversely affected the Outlook 2003 mail profile? Is it corrupt Outlook profile?
Hi Charlie,
Thank you for the input. The Outlook profile is a client setting, and should be affected by the changes on another location. Therefore, this issue is mostly related to the corrupted profile. You may try to create a new Outlook profile on the Outlook 2003 client to troubleshoot the issue. For the steps on how to create a new profile, refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article: 829918 How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829918 In the meanwhile, we can test the behavior in Outlook Safe Mode: 1. Click Start, and then point to Programs. 2. Press CTRL while you click the shortcut for Outlook that you want to start. 3. Hold down CTRL until you receive a message similar to the following: "Outlook has detected that you are holding down the CTRL key. Do you want to start Outlook in safe mode?" Click Yes. Thanks and have a nice day!
