In Outlook 2007, my Calendar is bold with a blue (8) next to it indicating
that there are 8 items unread. I've right clicked on it and selected "Mark
All as Read" with no results. I can't figure out where the unread items are.
I have even change my view to All Appointments hoping to see the offending
calendar items in this long list. I've also looked in my Archived file,
nothing

How do I get rif of this?

Try this: while in all appointments, customize the view to hide read items-
so only the 8 unread items will show.

when you right clicked and marked as read, did they disappear at all?

Good idea. I selected the All Appointments view and setup the filter to show
unread. It returned no items. But it was a good thought. When I told it to
mark all as read, nothing changed. It still shows 8 unread. I even went in
to the properties of the Calendar and changed the setting to show the number
of items and then back to unread items thinking that it would somehow wake
up, but it didn't fix it.
