service. I'ts fair that I give my business to one of the frequent volunteers
here.

I'm a solo legal practitioner seeking a consultant to help me from time to
time figure out msaccess solutions. Payment would be either per incident or
via time, and is negotiable. I like to tinker with MSACCESSalmost as a
hobby, which is why I don't use an off the shelf progralm. .

Try checking your local Universities and Colleges. You'd do better to find
someone local. No matter who you hire PLEASE check references, not
*everyone* here is reputable.

To add to the other responses I would also say that not everyone here has
the ability that they claim. Most do but there is a tiny but noisy minority
that do not.

On a solo cycling tour once I decided I'd like to get to the top of a
hill I thought would have a good view. I chained my bike to a tree, and
spent an hour clambering over rocks and bushes until I reached the top.
I found there was a paved roadway leading up from the other side, so
folks could drive (or cycle) up to the cafe on the summit - without
thorns in their backside. (Great views!).

I hope you won't mind me saying this, but I think you're coming at this
from the wrong direction. If you just want an application built, my 28
years as a developer tell me your best option is to hire a reliable
contractor, and give him/her a clear specification in strictly business
(not technical) language, and have him/her make the technical decisions.
Meddling clients get muddled results.

On the other hand, if you want to develop a fluency in Access, hiring a
"personal trainer" is an expensive and potentially frustrating route. I
don't think you've quite "got" the idiom of Access. It's a database,
and if you think about a problem primarily in terms of storing and
retrieving records in carefully-planned tables, everything will just
fall out right (with just a little guidance). If you step back and work
gently through the training modules on the MS website, or watch the
introductory videos on Lynda.com, you'll start to see this project from
a new angle, and you'll sweep up the road to the cafe. (Without the
thorns in your butt.)

Steve has really given people the hump (a London expression) in this
group by constantly pitching for paid work when the ethos of the group
is to provide free help. Some of his advice has been judged pretty
questionable too. If you do some offline learning, you can get
specifics cleared up here by real experts (and me too, sometimes), free.
