Start in templates directory on network drive
I am trying to setup my "Alternate File locations" to open
from a template folder on a network drive. This template folder has excel, ppt, and word templates stored all in the same place. I point Excel to that folder, but when I open Excel I get errors that it is trying to open ppt and word templates (wrong file type). Then it opens the first xlt it finds. I have selected the option to "ignore other file types" but that did not work. Any ideas on what I might have done wrong? |

The alternate file location isn't meant for templates. It's meant to be used to
specify a folder which contains files that are always opened when excel opens. There is a "workgroup templates" location that can be changed. But you can't do it in Excel. In MSWord: tools|options|file locations Or you can get to it via the Office Shortcut bar. Right click on the office shortcut bar select Customize Settings tab Change the "workgroup templates location" MICHAEL wrote: I am trying to setup my "Alternate File locations" to open from a template folder on a network drive.
