Record Narration - can't cange file location for recording on VIST
On my Vista system I get an error message when I try to change the location
of the audio files. Works fine on my XP system. Error message is: An error occurred while opening the file dialog. Please save your presentation, exit, and then restart PowerPoint. -- No other information is provided. Have saved, exited and restarted numerous times without success. On the Record Narration window it shows under the “Link narration in” C:\...\Content.MSO\ I can find no such location on my “C” drive. It records okay and plays back just fine. Problem is on VISTA - I can’t find where it is saving the WAV files nor can I change where it is putting them. I want to be able to edit the WAV file for each slide. On the XP PRO system I can define the file location and it creates a WAV file for each slide which I can edit just fine. -- Kermit, long time windows Office user |

I should add one other piece of information. The recording that I made on the
XP PRO system work fine on XP but they do not play on the VISTA system. The rehearsed timings work okay but no audio is heard. -- Kermit, long time windows Office user "Kermitp" wrote: On my Vista system I get an error message when I try to change the location of the audio files. Record Narration - can't cange file location for recording on
I have been trying different things and have a little more information.
Sorry, should have done a little more before posting. I can create a new PP in Vista and it lets me direct the audio anywhere I want. however, once I have edited the PP in XP PRo it no longer let's me select a location for the audio files. If I create a narration for any slide it get saved in the PPTX file. From reading another post I was able to save the PP as a webpage and it placed all the files, including the WAV files, in a subdirectory. My problem is I have 18 presentations all created on an XP PRO system that are part of a Seminar at Sea leaving this weekend. I only will have a VISTA laptop on the cruise and need to be able to capture the narration as it will be used later to create a course on DVD. I don't have time to recreate all 18 presentations. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. -- Kermit, long time windows Office user "Kermitp" wrote: I should add one other piece of information. Is it a directory that you don't have read/write access to under VISTA? That'd be my first guess. ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |
