Cannot get rid of obsolete Personal Folders
I am using Outlook 2003, and have three instances of an
obsolete Personal Folders, which I am trying to remove from my Mail window pane. When I try to "Close" them, I get the message "Operation Failed. Object could not be found." I deleted these PST files a while ago, so they shouldn't be showing up, but I may have removed them incorrectly... I de-installed and re-installed Outlook, but the same result - these obsolete Personal Folders continue to show up. Is there any way to clean these folders up so they don't show up on my left-hand pane? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

Cannot get rid of obsolete Personal Folders
The best way to clean this up is to create a fresh profile.
1. Follow the instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=829918 to create your new profile. 2. Once you have the new profile, Double-click on the profile name again, then click View or change existing email accounts. 3. Go to the bottom of that dialog and click the "New Outlook Data File" button. Click OK then choose your old PST. Once you have it added to the list, select your old PST as the default. When you select it, you may want to change the name of the folder set from "Personal Folders" to something more discriptive such as "Original Folders". 4. Click Finish 5. Click the Data Files Button then select and Remove the empty Personal Folders File that was automatically created. 6. Select the option to prompt for profile to be used and click OK. 7. Start Outlook with your new profile to be sure it works. 8. Once you have the new profile set up to your satisfaction, return to the mail applet, remove your old profile and set Outlook to always use your new profile. -- Athena "Outlook2003User" wrote: I am using Outlook 2003, and have three instances of an obsolete Personal Folders, which I am trying to remove from my Mail window pane.
