Contacts with blank email addresses
Hello,
Using Outlook 2000, I group my contacts into categories and periodically want to email everyone in a category, which works fine. The problem is that some of my contacts don't have email addresses, so each time I go to email one of the categories where one of those contacts is, Outlook gives me an error saying some of the recipients don't have an email address, and I have to manually remove those contacts before sending the email. Is there any easy way around this without separating out each of my categories into 2 separate categories for those that have email addresses and those that don't? If there was a way Outlook could just skip the contacts with blank emails when sending the email, that would be great. Thanks, Ryan |

If your categories contain members without email addresses, then categories
is not a useful way to group email recipients. Consider Distribution Lists or separate Contact subfolders. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Ryan" wrote in message ... Contacts with blank email addresses
Russ,
Thanks for your reply - but in the end, wouldn't creating Distribution Lists or separate Contact subfolders have the same effect as just separating out each of my existing categories into 2 for those that have email addresses and those that don't? I guess I'm more looking for a way for Outlook to just ignore those contacts with no email addresses and still send the email out when I email that category. Thanks for your help. Dealers choice. It's all up to you and what fits your needs best.
The nice thing about separate Contact Subfolders is that they appear in the Outlook Address Book, which will only display Contacts with email addresses. There's a comparison of the two methods for grouping he http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/oloabcat.htm -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Ryan" wrote in message ...
