The Access software version and the file-format version of the database file
must match. One of the traps is that A2002 software creates new database
files in A2000 file format be default. However, to create MDE using A2002
software, the source MDB file must be in A2002 file format.

If you use A2002 software and your database file is in A2000 file format,
you need to convert the database file to A2002 file format first.

Hi Yonina -
If you have not yet done so, open any form - click on Form View, choose View
/ Code or click on the Code Button - on the menu Choose Debug and then choose
the Complie option (first on menu). Close it down and try to make the MDE
file.

What version of Access are you using? If it's Access 2002 or Access 2003,
what format is the database in? (It should say on top of the database
window). The default in Access 2002 and 2003 is the Access 2000 format, but
neither version can create an MDE unless the file format is changed to the
newer version.

When I was trying to create an MDE I had the same problem "Make MDE File..."
was there, but grayed out. You need to have your Db closed, for that option
to be accessable.

Hope this helps
Mary

If you're using Access 2002 or Access 2003, and the database is in the
default Access 2000 format, the Make MDE File... will always be grayed out.
The file must be in the same format as whatever version of Access you're
using. If you need to convert, look under Tools | Database Utilities.
