Default Automatic text formatting

How do you turn off automatic text formatiing so that a small dash does not change to an elongated dash?

What version of Visio are you using, and how are you implementing the text?
On a shape, text box, connector...?

I wasn't able to reproduce this in Visio 2002 Pro with a few quick tests, so
maybe if you provide more details I can help.

Hi Randall,

You need to turn off AutoFormatting for this character. Go to Tools | AutoCorrect Options..., then click on the "AutoFormat As You Type" tab. Uncheck the option to replace "Hyphens with dash" and OK the dialog.
