How do I find the "table identifier code" for a 2nd TOC in Wor
The Goto Field only recognizes the 1st TOC and the Find did not recognize any
of them with show/hide on or off. This is Word 2003. "Klaus Linke" wrote: How do I find the "table identifier code" for a 2nd TOC in Word 2000 Edit Goto Field: TOC Or display field codes (Alt+F9) and use "Edit Find", searching for ^d TOC Greetings, Klaus |

How do I find the "table identifier code" for a 2nd TOC in Wor
Strange, I haven't noticed "Goto" failing, ever...
The Find might not work if you have "Match case" checked in the Find dialog, since field codes aren't case sensitive. Perhaps you could mail me the doc to my private email address (... if it isn't confidential)? I'm curious why GoTo didn't do the trick. .... and if the TOC is plain text, there's no way to go to it except
manually. You do see some TOC field when you show field codes (Alt+F9)? Regards, Klaus |

If I can find your address I will email the document to you. Note I have
manually modified the TOC's to appear how they should look to submit for tenative approval. We now have a new problem, we deleted the second page (which was not numbered) yet the previous document and new document have the same number of virtual pages - I never get bored. How do I find the "table identifier code" for a 2nd TOC in Wor
Hi Susan,
Thanks for the doc. Both GoTo and Find work fine for me (Word2003, too), and find all three TOCs. Maybe you need to go to the start of the doc first (Ctrl+Pos1)? Other than that, I can't think of what might go wrong on your machine. Regards, Klaus "Klaus Linke" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... If I can find your address I will email the document to you. [...] |

How do I find the "table identifier code" for a 2nd TOC in Wor
Ok, I finally got both functions to work - but they do not give me letter
identifier code for the 2nd and 3rd TOCs. My problem is I need the "Summary" entries in all three TOC's: the TC field,"t" switch, & bookmarks did not work - when I changed the style it pulled in entries from the 1st TOC that I don't want. My plan was to enter a TC field specifically for the 2nd & 3rd TOC's on the "Summary" pages. "Klaus Linke" wrote: Hi Susan, Thanks for the doc. Your second and third TOC are limited to some bookmarked ranges, so it'll be
difficult (impossible?) to pull anything outside those ranges (such as those Summaries) into them, I think. Maybe you could give the summaries a different style, and put in a separate TOC for them after your exisiting TOCs 2 and 3? Else, you would have to do without the bookmarks, and could use separate styles for those headings that should only appear in TOC 2, and those that only appear in TOC3, and one for the summaries again. You probably could use TC fields, too, but I don't have experience with them, as they look like a lot of work, which I tend to evade.
