"User Information" data not sticking
I will not say what I think of the new stuff in Word 2002 regarding comments and change-tracking. The problem I wonder about is why, when I put a name like 'Joe' in as my name under Tools/options/user information, doesn't it stay 'Joe' when I make comments and track changes? It seems it will be 'Joe' for a while, but in subsequent opens, it's back to my registered name. Furthermore, if the document is opened by someone else, the name 'Joe' is not on tracks, but my registration name is instead. What's wrong? How do I set it semi-permanently LIKE I COULD IN WORD 2000? ------------------------------------------------ ~~ Message posted from http://www.WordForums.com/ |

"User Information" data not sticking
Hi Phil
I have tested out track changes in Word 2002 and changed the User Information dozens and dozens of times, and I haven't experienced your problem. Are you using Word in a corporate environment, on a network? I would suspect that your IT people have set up Office so that, whenever you load Word, or perhaps whenever you log into the network, your Windows network user name is used to populate the Word User Information. So you'll need to talk with your IT support people. Hope this helps. Shauna Kelly. Microsoft MVP. http://www.shaunakelly.com/word "Phil Jamieson" wrote in message ...
