Default 2bd Try: to update Excel or not?

I understand that MS06-037/KB918424 was released to update Excel 2000
(among a few other programs). I understand that MS06-037/KB918424
replaces the earlier MS06-012/KB905757. I also understand that once
installed, MS06-037/KB918424 cannot be removed!

I'm concerned about this. I have just now, after many hours and
tears, managed to get my Excel 2000 installed onto my new computer,
and get it updated through SP3. I hate to think that an update might
befuddle the whole thing.

Have there been any issues or problems with KB918424/MS06-037? Thank
you.
