Default saving power point presentation to CD-RW

I'm trying to save a presentation I created onto a CD. I get the message that the CD drive is not available to me because the administrator hasn't made it an option. I'm to see the administrator to change this. I have a home computer, I'm the only person using it, I must be the administrator I guess! How can I get my computer to let me copy presentations onto a CD?

*Do not* save directly to CD. Save to another folder, then copy/burn your
presentation to the CD

as far as I know there is no way an application such as
powerpoint can save directly to the CD. you must use
another appliation such as a CD Burner application to burn
the file to the CD.

Depends on your Windows version. Using XP you can just right-click on your
presentation file (the that ends with .ppt) and choose from the popupmenu
"copy to cd-rom" (or something like it). be sure there is a blank CD-R(W) in
your cd-writer.
After a few seconds you'll see a text-balloon comimg up, telling you that
files are waiting to be written to cd. Just click on the balloon. An
explorer like window opens. From the left menubar, choose "Write these files
to cd" and the wizard guides you through the proces. In case you did not
click the text balloon, just open explorer, right-click on the cd-writer,
choose from the popupmenu "Write these files to cd" and the wizard starts.

Using an earlier Windows version: use the program you normally use to write
cd's, like Nero Burning Rom or EasyCD. Just select the .ppt file you need
and start the writing procedure.

I'm trying to use the pack and go feature. When I choose my CD drive as my destination, I get a message that this drive is an incorrect function, and that I don't have access to this drive. I get the message that I'm supposed to contact the administrator. I don't have an administrator because this is only my computer. Does anyone know how I can get access to my CD drive so I can copy my presentation to a CD. I have it saved on my hard drive--I'm not trying to save it on a CD, only to copy it.

Is you your CD a CDR drive? What software are you using to copy your
presentation to your CD? Also which version of PowerPoint are you using?

The CD drive is a CD-RW. I'm trying to copy the presentation using power point itself. The feature pack and go should be able to copy to the CD drive. It asks for a destination drive--when I specify the CD drive, I get the message that this is an incorrect function and I need to contact the administrator. I can copy to a CD using microsoft XP. I just highlight it and tell it to copy to CD. But, I want to be able to do it in power point using the feature that is designed for copying. The pack and go feature will let me copy to a floppy, but I don't want that. My power point program is 2002 (10.2623.2625).

Your version of PowerPoint is not capable of writing directly to a CD. Use
Pack and Go to pack your presentation to your hard drive. Two files will be
created. One is an EXE file and is used to "unpack" the presentation. Run
it and unpack the presentation to a folder on your hard drive. Now you are
ready to use your CD burning software to copy the contents of the folder
(not the folder itself, but just the contents) to the CD.

Pack and Go is designed to gather everything together including linked files
and the PowerPoint Viewer and compress them into a single file for easy
transport to another system. However, once you have it on the other system,
you have to unpack it to a folder. If you follow the steps I've detailed
above, your presentation CD can be played on any system and no unpacking is
required.
