Default OL 2002 Re-setting Contacts

Hello:

When I view a contact name and click on the Activities tab, I get a message:
"Outlook cannot display this view. You need to reset your folder group"

I followed the instructions to reset, but I still get that message when I
try to view the Activities tab. The message also has:
"The file ....\\MarkC.pst could not be found."

The Contacts folder is in the main Outlook Today folder, and like to know
why this is using a previous file name. The current pst file that is used
for the Outlook Today folder is Mark 2007.pst, not MarkC.pst

How do I get the contacts folder to point to the correct pst file?

Thanks,
Mark

Message suggests you changed your information store and did so incorrectly.
Provide more information on what you did and how you "reset" your folders.

Default OL 2002 Re-setting Contacts

It's been sometime ago and don't remember what I did incorrectly. I think I
copied the contacts folder from the MarkC.pst to the Mark 2007.pst file
folder. How, I don't recall but it's the only way I could of done that.

As to resetting, I right clicked the contacts folder, clicked on the
properties tab, went to the Activities tab, highlighted the contacts folder,
then clicked on Reset. But that did not fix it.

Hope you have a solution.

Default OL 2002 Re-setting Contacts

Hard to know how to undo your error. How many PST files are in your current
profile? How many Contact Folders.
Resetting your folders means resetting the Outlook Address Book Service.
It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to "lose track" of the
connection to its Contacts Folder when you move or import your PST or update
your Outlook version or operating system. Use the following steps to reset
the connection. Note that in some instances you may actually have to remove
the Outlook Address Book completely from your Profile, close Outlook, and
then re-add it before you can get it to work.

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book checked?
If this is grayed out...Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change
existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present?
If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed,
then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add
it.

To complicated: I just created a brand new default online pst file, copied
the addresses into the new contact folder. It works now...

Thanks,

Mark

Indeed. Creating a new profile is a more difficult way to reset the Outlook
Address Service.
