We don't know how the CD caused the crash. It was being read, the blue screen
appeared and that was it. I know the CD was bad because it caused grief on this computer as well. I assume since this is a much newer computer it could cope. The CD was never read and now the disk resides in the trash. New hard drives are cheap... -- Mary Sauer http://msauer.mvps.org/ "John G." wrote in message ... Yes thats the question I wanted to ask as well How did a CD crash the Hard Drive?? -- John G "bjm" wrote in message ... How did a picture CD crash the drive? I just use an external drive for backups. I could (but haven't) automate the backup process to be more frequent than my manual system. Every so often I'll backup certain stuff to CD as well. bj "Mary Sauer" wrote in message ... I've been really good about backing up all my files. We found an old picture CD that crashed the hard drive. We tried everything to get it back, we are doing the last resort, re-format. I'll keep in mind the Raid array. I have a brand new laptop coming, be a good time to try it. I will search for the instructions...Thanks for the tip. |
