Default can I keep background from tiling?

I'm putting my pictures (from my files) on as background on a calendar. FORMATBACKGROUND then using the box where I can browse and find my own files. Publisher 2007, paper 8 1/2 X11 Some of the pictures come on good, but some of them tile.
Is there a setting to keep them from tiling and just fill the background with one picture (or even part of it)? It might have something to do with the size/resolution of the picture, I've tried enlarging it but it just tiles more. Maybe reducing it would work?
I thought there might be something I'm not finding that says "do not tile".

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...background.jpg

This might have tiled twice (up and down) but it isn't apparent. Some of them, like one is a field of daisies, only one big daisy (part of the picture) shows.Which actually looks good.

Some of them are tiling all over the page.

I could keep trying pictures and different sizes trying to pinpoint it, or I could ask here.

Thanks!

Formatting the background will always tile. The only workaround is to stretch a
picture to fit and send it to the back or put it on the master page.

I just tried this
The picture I used didn't come out so good stretched, and I could first
resize it elsewhere and insert as a picture, like you say. (I just
discovered the backgrounds and using my own pictures with them and having
fun with it!)
I guess some pictures work better with it than others (the tiling)
Thanks (I figured finding out for sure would save a lot of time and
frustration trying to figure it out)

I think I have a way. Adding the picture like you said (not as a
background) and stretching it, even if it goes over the printed part to make
it look okay.
This works better with some pictures because I can then move it around on
the page and get what I want to show around the calender page.

BTW, what is the difference between bring to front, send to back, bring
forward, send backwards?
I've tried them and they seem to do the same things.

One more question, is it possible to change the color of the calender on
each page? So, it doesn't have to be the same color for the whole 12 pages?

Or would setting up a table make it possible?

Thanks for being so patient, you must get tired of the same questions from
people over and over.

An article
Move an object forward or backward
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/pu...CH100793511033

Color schemes are publication specific. You can't change one page without all
the pages changing to the selected scheme. However you can manually change each
page's color.

I wonder why I didn't think of that (LOL)
Sometimes things seem so simple they get missed.
