Using Contacts for Outlook emails
Hi,
(Outlook 2003 SP2) the information in the Contacts folder in the address book contains just 6 names instead of the hundreds that are contained in the full Contacts folder (on the folder list). The Contacts/Properties/Outlook Address Book tab has a check mark in the appropriate box and 'Contacts' is listed as the address book in this tab. I recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall everything. I seem to remember having a problem wiht contacts after a previous re-installation, but I can't remember how I solved it. When I go to Address Book/Tools/Options, I see Contacts listed there. Everything seems to be set up correctly but I can't access the hundreds of names in my Contacts for emails. Under the main menu, I have selected Tools/Email accounts and tried to 'Add a new Address Book'. However this leads to selecting the additional address book type and when I select Outlook address book, I get a message 'this account or directory type already exists and cannot be specified twice. I know there is a solution to this - hope someone has it, please! Diarmuid Dublin Ireland |

The Contacts/Properties/Outlook Address Book tab has a check mark in the appropriate box and 'Contacts' is listed as the address book in this tab. First, a contact must contain an electronic address (e-mail or FAX number) before it will show in the Address Book interface. Second, you must be referencing the correct Contacts folder. I recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall everything. I seem to remember having a problem wiht contacts after a previous re-installation, but I can't remember how I solved it. When I go to Address Book/Tools/Options, I see Contacts listed there. Were I in your shoes, I'd click ToolsE-mail AccountsView or change existing directories ort address bookNext, select Outlook Address Book, click Change, and remove all Contacts folders that appear there. I'd then stop and restart Outlook, choose the properties of the folders I want to appear in the address book, and click the "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" option on the Outlook Address Book tabs. -- Brian Tillman |
