Default Modifying Import/Export Specifications

Hi Tom

Once you've clicked Advanced... you click Specs... then Open

Choose the relevant spec and click OK

Now that spec is "loaded" and can be amended.

To get to the "First Row Contains Fiedl Names" option you will need to click
the button labelled "Next "

Having changed the option click on Advanced... again then Save As...

Choose the original spec and click OK

You will be asked to confirm that you want to "Overwrite existing spec..."

Click Yes

I have an existing Import/Export Specification that I use to input text
fields to an Access Table. The file I am importing changed to include the
first row as field names. How do I modify my current specification to be
able to check the "First Row Contains Field Names" box? When I hit the
Advanced button and click on the specification name, it doesn't show that
check box to modify. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Tom

Default Modifying Import/Export Specifications

Hi Andy

Thanks for the response. Basically that is what I initially tried, but it
still didn't work. The input text file has data names for each field. My
specification has different names to correspond with my access table names.
After I hit the Advanced key, click on my spec name, hit OK and go back to
the field description, it still shows the original text names, not my access
table file names. It will allow me to modify the "First Row Contains Field
names, but not associate them with my access field names.

To get to the specification name, I hit Table - New - Import text - Name of
text File - Import. Is there another way to get to an existing Specification
name a different way?

Thanks again for your help

Tom

Did you save the file spec before you opened it?

I saved the file spec after each step, but it always revered back to the
original field names of the input text file and wouldn't update my spec file
with the data fields in heading option.
