Default Revert To Standard Setting

When I open excel, a new/blank workbook no longer opens.

Somehow the settings were changed. How to I change the setting so that
whenever I start the Excel program, a blank workbook automatically opens

I'd try this...
Help | Detect and Repair
with both option buttons checked.
