Multi Search
Currently we have the situation where an operator will input a search
for a reference number (form bound to a table) which will produce the result (ref no plus name.) In real terms the operator will have a list of 10 - 50 ref numbers to search against, is it possible to carry out some form of "multi search" whereby they copy the list of all 50 ref. numbers and paste them into the form. The form/report? would then show the "ref no" plus "name" (or indeed blank "name" if there is no matching ref no) result for all 50 items. The operators would get the ref no either from excel or notepad. If this type of multi search is possible what is the best way to go about it please. |

Multi Search
Since you want the output to show blanks for the name, I would suggest the
solution might be a temporary work table where you can input multiple numbers. An alternative if the only the refno you want to see are in the excel sheet or notepad file is to establish a link to the those. With a work table, your query would look like SELECT WorkTable.RefNO, OtherTable.Name FROM WorkTable LEFT JOIN OtherTable ON WorkTable.RefNO = OtherTable.RefNo John Spencer Access MVP 2002-2005, 2007-2010 The Hilltop Institute University of Maryland Baltimore County Box666 wrote: Currently we have the situation where an operator will input a search for a reference number (form bound to a table) which will produce the result (ref no plus name.)
