Default error: KB294555 There was a problem retreiving printer information for this obj.

Hello all.

I'm having trouble with Access 2002. On any database,
blank or premade, if I try to create a new report I get
the error:
There was a problem retrieving printer information for
this object. The object may have been sent to a printer
that is unavailable.
This problem is detailed in KB article #29455.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-
US;294555

I use a network printer (HP8000) and windows xp pro,
access 2002. I have followed their steps to get this to
work but it is still giving me the same error.

my net use:
D:\Documents and Settings\JLongwel\Desktopnet use lpt2
Local name LPT2
Remote name \\GAOGLIMFS10\GAOGLPRN46
Resource type Print
Status OK
# Opens 0
# Connections 2
The command completed successfully.

D:\Documents and Settings\JLongwel\Desktopnet use lpt1
Local name LPT1
Remote name \\GAOGLIMFS10\GAOGLPRN46
Resource type Print
Status OK
# Opens 0
# Connections 2
The command completed successfully.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than the ones in
the KB article that might point me in the right
direction? I have already tried a fresh install and that
does not work. A user that sits right beside me, has the
exact same configuration does not have this problem. The
only difference being she does have a printer connected to
the computer in the lpt1 port.

John:

Have you tried installing any printer driver on your local machine and have
it point to LPT1, even if you don't have a printer attached? Then you can
use the NetUse command to direct your net printer to LPT2. Set the
reports to use the default printer.

I found an unused HP 3820 and installed it to my lpt1
(after removing my net use lpt1) and now I'm able to
create reports as normal.

Thanks for the tip!
