Default endnote

How do I delete an Endnote and then automatically renumber all remaining
endnotes?
Thanks!

You delete the endnote reference in the document text. This will delete the
endnote itself, and the remaining notes should renumber automatically unless
you have Track Changes enabled.

Suzanne -- thanks very much!

Have turned off track changes. successfully deleted ref (#9), but now there
is skip from 8 to 10. How do I renumber 10 to be 9 (and have all subsequent
endnotes update?).

Thanks!

You have to Accept the Tracked Changes, not just stop tracking changes, then
the endnote numbers will sort themselves out. (assuming none of them are
actually cross-references. If they might be cross-references, hit F9 to
update fields).
