If you are new to development, you should really consider purchasing an
application that does most of what you want. At the very least, you should find a good template and possibly a quality contract developer. -- Duane Hookom Microsoft Access MVP "pam say" wrote: Hello I am trying to figure out which database to use. Duane is right (no surprise there)!
Don't get me wrong, with time you could learn to create your own system. The problem being it would not incorporate functionalities that a professional developer would, no doubt, incorporate to facilitate your work. As such, you would most probably be frustrated with the tool you would develop on your own or you would be the only person in the organisation that could truly work with it (this has been the case of countless charities I have helped). You are much better of either buying a tool that does what you need or hire a professional to create one from scratch. In my experience, most often than not, you are better to hire a professional and start from scratch as it is hard to find an existing piece of software that does everything you need. As for templates, there are lots on-line. You could start by taking a look at: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...33.aspx?av=ZAC -- Hope this helps, Daniel Pineault http://www.cardaconsultants.com/ For Access Tips and Examples: http://www.devhut.net Please rate this post using the vote buttons if it was helpful. If the online store "plug in" is a major requirement then you might approach this from a different angle and look for shopping cart software that you could leverage to run your store. There are quite a few free packages out there but one that I have used is called VP-ASP.which runs on an Access database. There are too many variables to go into here but I do believe that you could configure this software to do what you have specified above. At the very least by looking at the database it will give you some idea of the scope of the project if you do decide to start from scratch. |
