Default Page numbering mixed orientation document & 'protecting' paras

Hi,

Is there a simple way to mix landscape pages in a portrait document, but have the page numbering always in the same place on the sheet (lower right corner?

Also, is there a way to 'protect' portions of a sheet, but have others accessible - example, a form where the instructions and signature block should stay static, but various users need to insert information in between the two?

Thanks,

Lana

Hi =?Utf-8?B?TGFuYQ==?=,

numbering always in the same place on the sheet (lower right corner?

Depends on what you mean by "simple". No automatic way to get Word to do this, no. You
can't get around unlinking the header/footer for each section and inserting the
header/footer you need. But the two types (portrait vs. landscape) can be saved as
AutoText entries and inserted as required, which does make it fairly simple, once you
have it set up.

What's available depends on the version of Word you have. In 2002 and earlier, you have
Forms protection (Tools/Protect document). In this case, the user can only work in form
fields and unprotected document sections.

In Word 2003 there's an additional protection feature that basically lets you
protect/unprotect just about anything in the document, without needing to use form
fields.

Thanks Cindy,

I did get the page number (footer) to show at the bottom of the landscaped pages vertically using a text box, but your suggestion to make it into an autotext item is great - I'll do that and next time it will be there.

Using Word 2000, I'll simply create a form and protect it with a password.

Thanks for your help,

Lana
