Perhaps your Arial Black is corrupt.

Maybe the font file is corrupt, but that is a strange kind of corruption, only way it shows is by making it italicized. And since the italicized version is a separate file for that particualr font, I doubt it, but who knows? BTW I don't use any theme at all.

I use Western Europe ISO but changing encoding to UTF-7 or 8 makes it OK, however it makes all the fonts look different so I don't do it. What encoding would you recommend in general, I never can figure out what is the best to use.

I have tried that, I don't see much difference between that and Western Europe ISO, myself. If anything it makes the characters less legible than the other. I really do not fully undertsand what "encoding" actually involves; I just use whatever works best. For example, I get the MS Tech newsletters, and if I view them using West Euro encoding, I see strange characters here and there, mostly where punstuation marks would be. But if I change the encoding to UTF-8, say, that clears up the garbage, but it also makes the fonts look very different in appearance and size and so on. So I juyst stick to West Euro ISO and live with WYSIWYG.
BTW my font files were not corrupted, they have always worked fine outside of IEx, as in say Word or any other editor (like, say, the code editor in VB). But now that I have stopped using Arial Black, it is no longer an issue. -- Pete B "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote in message ... Try Western European (Windows).
