Access 2000 Form/Combo box/Table data issue
This is a different issue from my previous recent post.
I have 2 tables, one with car makes: Daimler-Chrysler, GM and Ford, and one table with car models: Sebring, Crossfire, HHR, Geo, Focus, Windstar, etc. When I add a new record to a new table by making a selection from my first combo box/drop list in my form, it shows the number of the product rather than the name of the product. For example, Daimler-Chrysler is the 1st make on the Make table. Then I choose Sebring (the 8th model on the Model table) from the 2nd combo box drop-down list. Here's the issue: When I open the new table data (that is created from the form data), in the Make column it inputs the number '1' (from being item #1 on the Make table) rather than the actual name of the Make. In the Model column it inputs the number '8' (from being item #8 on the Model table) rather than the actual name of the Model. Any assistance is greatly appreciated ! Thanks ! Brent |

Access 2000 Form/Combo box/Table data issue
Hi
In your form create a combo with the source like this SELECT [TableName].[CarMakerID], [TableName].[CarModel] FROM [TableName1] ORDER BY [CarModel]; The Bound column = 1 Column Count = 2 Column width = 0cm;3cm The reason you are getting (seeing) the ID field is that you will display the 1st column with a width of more than 0 -- Wayne Manchester, England. Access 2000 Form/Combo box/Table data issue
Sorry - I have just re-read your post.
The table you have - shwoing the ID of the car maker is correct (as that is the linking field). Without the ID number (the linking field) your application would not know which car went to which maker Use a form of query to input data "not" the table -- Wayne Manchester, England.
