Outlook contacts to Windows 7 Fax
This problem occurs because Outlook is a 32bit application and Outlook runs on a WOW layer on 64bit operating system. The 32-bit outlook.exe sets the registry key in 32-bit wow registry HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Clients\Mail and it cannot be used by the 64bit Fax and Scan. So, we cannot launch the Outlook Contact list directly in Windows Fax in Windows 7 64 bit. The same behavior can be seen in Windows Vista 64bit and Windows XP 64bit. Also, the MAPI used is 32 bit. Therefore, when we launch Contacts in Windows Fax and Scan on 64bit Windows 7, we will not see the Outlook contact list. As you could see, the workaround will be to export the contact list from Outlook and import it to Windows Address Book. Thank you. -- Horsepower http://forums.slipstick.com

You can use the Mail applet in Windows 7 to configure the Outlook Address Book, which Fax and Scan will then use. At the very least, users should use the Mail applet to configure the Outlook
Address Book and set it as the default, then create a new Fax account. Maybe not, but if you type wab in the Start search field, wab.exe is found and it opens the Windows Contacts folder. Vista and Windows 7 32 bit uses Outlook just fine. My only partition with
Windows 7 64 bit doesn't have an analog fax modem, so I can't configure a fax account. All bets are off until someone with an analog fax modem actually configures a fax account on a 64 bit partition. You don't need a modem to set it up - you can tell it you'll pick a modem
later. Outlook 2010 32bit works with 32bit Win7's Fax & Scan. Right but you can't create a Fax Account.
There's still no need for Outlook users to create and maintain a second Contact database.
